STX Apps

STX Apps is where you sign up to build on STX for other people. It has three tracks: build an app that STX members connect to their account, send players to STX as an affiliate, or read STX market data in your own product. You sign up once at apps.stxapp.io, create an organization, and get demo access straight away.

Ask one question: is it your own account, or someone else’s?

  • Your own account. Scripts, algos, automation, market making and adding liquidity all trade on your own account, even when the account belongs to a firm. You don’t need STX Apps for that: create an API key in your STX account and sign your requests. Start at Quick start and Request signing.
  • Someone else’s members, public data, or referrals. That is STX Apps. An app acts for members with their consent, a data integrator reads public market data with credentials of its own, and an affiliate sends players with links.
Track For What you get Where
Apps Developers building apps that members connect to their STX account An OAuth client with the scopes you pick. Members approve each one on STX. An app can also list its own markets through the Apps API. See Build an app US demo now. Live access coming soon in the US and Ontario. In Ontario an app reads public market data only and does not act for members
Affiliates Publishers, creators, tipsters and communities Your own affiliate ID, tracking links, campaigns, reports and postbacks. No code. See Affiliates US demo now. Live access coming soon in the US and Ontario. Ontario is waitlisted
Data Odds sites, media, research and trading tools Server-to-server credentials that read the public market catalogue, prices, depth and events. See Market data US demo now. Live access coming soon in the US and Ontario. Ontario is waitlisted

An organization can use more than one track.

Everything starts in the demo environment, with test funds and no real money. The US demo runs at demo.stxapp.io, the same API that live access will use, so what you build there carries over unchanged. See Environments.

Live access opens when STX Apps goes live in your region. Until then everything runs in demo. Apps also go through a review of their listing and the permissions they ask for before they go live.

The STX exchange in Ontario is live for trading. In Ontario an app reads public market data only (market_data and events) and does not act for members, which is what the Data track gives you. The Affiliates and Data tracks are waitlisted in Ontario for now: you can choose Ontario when you sign up and your organization records it, and STX emails you when Ontario demo access opens. See United States and Canada.

  1. Go to apps.stxapp.io and pick your door: apps, affiliates or market data.
  2. Create your account, confirm your email from the link STX Apps sends you, and name your organization. Demo keys are issued only after your email is confirmed.
  3. Choose where you work: the US, Ontario, or both, for the tracks each offers.
  4. Accept the agreement for your track and start in demo.

Building and testing in demo is free. STX shares the terms for live access before you go live.

Everything in STX Apps belongs to an organization: its apps, data credentials, affiliate links and reports. Owners and admins invite the rest of the team, and each person has one role.

Role Can
Owner Everything, including renaming the organization and making others owners
Admin Members and invitations, agreements, app secrets, data keys, referral links and payee details. Everything except owner-only settings
App developer Create and edit apps: redirect URIs, scopes and demo testing. Sees client IDs; admins handle secrets
Data developer Set up market data access, get new data keys and see usage
Marketer Create, rename and archive referral links and campaigns, set up postbacks, and see the funnel and reports. No payee details
Finance See earnings and statements, and keep payee details up to date. Cannot create links
Viewer See everything in the organization and change nothing

An organization is offered the roles of the tracks it uses, so an affiliate team sees Marketer and Finance, not App developer.
